Dr. Hadi Mahdi Ahmad Alsakee has joined the International University of Erbil, in 2019 as Acting university president. Joined Department of Biology at Cihan University-Erbil, in 2017 as the Head of Biology Department. Formerly, he was head of Microbiology department in the College of Medicine, Hawler Medical University-Erbil (2012-2017), and registrar of College of Medicine, Hawler Medical University (2008-2012). He obtained his Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology from College of Medicine, Hawler Medical University-Erbil in 2009, and M.Sc. in Parasitology from Baghdad University, College of Sciences in 2001. He taught medical parasitology and medical microbiology, virology and laboratory techniques, Antibiotics for Medical, nursing, dentistry and Biology undergraduate and postgraduate students, and currently teaching virology and Antibiotics, Parasitology for Undergraduate Medical Microbiology students at International University of Erbil. He supervised six M.Sc. and three PhD students. He attended Nine national and six international conferences, and workshops, and published twenty (15 national and 5 international) scientific articles. Other academic duties, he is editor in chief of the Academic Journal of International University of Erbil (2024-date). His research interests are Immunity to parasitic infections, Vaccine development against hydatid disease, Epidemiology of infectious diseases, Immunodiagnosis of parasitic infections, Molecular detection of infectious agents, Virulence factor’s gene polymorphisms.
